Learn the craft of professional jewellers with
Helen London Silversmithing

From her Tewkesbury based workshop, Helen London offers a one day silver jewellery making class for beginners.

You can learn the basic techniques of the trade and create your own piece of beautiful, unique jewellery! There are 3 set classes to choose from:

  • Ring in a Day
  • Bracelets and Bangles
  • Earrings and Pendant set

The cost of the class is just £85 for a full day and this includes your materials.

In each of the classes you will be introduced to the basic techniques of working with silver and making jewellery, including:
  • Cutting and filing (with piercing saw and files)
  • Metal forming using hammers and pliers
  • Soldering
  • Surface manipulation (texturing & decoration)
  • Using findings
  • Finishing and polishing

    

 

Basic Outline of the Day
(10.00 am - 6.00 pm)

AM

  • Health and safety briefing
  • Introduction to the workshop and tools
  • Demonstration & practise of basic techniques
  • Design ideas and prototypes
PM
  • Making of final piece using learnt techniques
  • Finishing and polishing
There is a friendly, relaxed atmosphere and class sizes are kept small so that teaching can be adapted to suit the needs and pace of each student. Free tea and coffee making facilities are available in the workshop.

This is a great day, aimed at being enjoyable whilst learning a new skill. You will be amazed at what you can achieve and at the end of the day you get to take away your new, hand crafted item of jewellery in its own presentation box.

Payment should be made 1 week in advance of the class via cheque or bank transfer and in the event of cancellation, 48 hours notice should be provided.
